Tasting Notes

Progeny Vineyard is located 1,000 feet above sea level on Mount Veeder. The soils are dominated by fragments of rock that range from large boulders to small grains of sand and are high in magnesium, a mineral necessary for the formation of chlorophyll. The 2006 growing season started out slowly with higher than average rainfall from January intospring, which provided much needed soil moisture during the growing season. Cool, wet weather in spring contributed to a later than normal bud break, but warm summer monthskept harvest on track by gradually advancing fruit maturity and ripeness in the vineyard. The vineyard produced only 1 ton per acre, and the meager yieldadds to the rich intensity of the finished wines.
